Go West, Young Man

Here are some works i made during a trip out west in 2008. I love hitting the highway and heading west. Its something i've always done as a way of finding new inspiration - at the heart of it all i think i might be a landscape painter, yet i rarely paint anything that resembles a traditional landscape painting. Getting away... I wish i could do it more often - i can and i should. No excuses really. Looking back at these works it occurs to me that I spend a lot of my life on the road these days, but not enough time venturing. I think its time to hit the road again.

'Hit the road Jack' was exhibited as part of Peter Fay's 'Licorice Allsorts' in 2009 at King St Gallery on William.
Tyres, milk crates, black gesso, gouache and oil on cardboard and plywood.
